Acolytes

The word acolyte, in itself, means “server.”

Acolytes are composed of children of parishioners (1st grade to senior high) who volunteer their time and talents to aid in the function of the actual church service.

Acolyte duties range from carrying the torch (candles), at the 1st / 2nd grade level, to leading the procession / recession of the service (first crucifer) and to directly helping the deacon and priest at the altar, at the junior/senior high level.

By the time an acolyte becomes a first crucifer, they take on the role as the leader of their acolyte team.

A well-trained acolyte team brings a sense of order and reverence to the church service.

Acolytes are scheduled to serve at least one Sunday per month (about 1.5 hrs) but make themselves available to volunteer whenever needed
