Mission and Outreach |
The Mission and Outreach Committee provides the strong leadership necessary to increase our parish's service to others. Using money from the St. Paul's Trust Fund income, an annual disbursement, further supports this commitment. The Mission and Outreach Committee has held several projects to augment their available funds.
From a global standpoint, our outreach includes African Team Ministries Craft and Jewelry Sale held in the parish hall. These funds go directly to the African Ministries.
Another popular activity has been the sale of "cow cookies" to raise money to purchase a cow for a farmer in a developing country. This project is administered through the Heifer Project International.
In addition we participate in the EPISCOPAL Relief and Development (formerly known as The Presiding Bishop’s Fund for World Relief).
St. Paul's also supports the Lubbock Interfaith Hospitality Network which provides interim housing for homeless people.
At the Diocesan level our outreach is directed toward such projects as raising money for Happy Camp, a camp for disadvantaged children held at the Diocesan-owned Quarterman Conference Center. We also take part in Prison Ministries programs.
Locally, parishioners are involved in a number of outreach projects. Communicants work on Habitat for Humanity homes.
In cooperation with St. John's Methodist Church we provide funds for food vouchers for indigents in our community who come to the church seeking help.
During an annual Fourth of July community celebration, we sponsor a soft drink booth to raise money for other projects and to maintain a presence in the community.
