Methuselah is the oldest man mentioned in the Bible. Methuselah means "Man of the dart", or alternatively "when he dies, it shall be sent". Methuselah lived to be 969 years old. He was the son of Enoch, the father of Lamech and Noah's grandfather. Methuselah died in the year the flood occurred. Methuselah's name is mentioned seven times in the Bible: Genesis 5:21,22, 25,26,27; 1 Chronicles 1:3; Luke 3:37 Methuselah has become a general synonym for any living creature of great age. |
